This is one of my projects at GSAPP, Columbia University. It was designed by a bunch of geometry componental systems. Everything was built by rhino grasshopper. All elements are constraints and connected to each others.

Nice! Love the physical model and definition screenshot
guess it needed a lot of computing power at the end of the project. Rock on! Patrick
Thanks. It was about all parametric design experiments; plan, structure, envelop, roof, patterns… everything was constrained and operating together. But it was not scripting, just playing with a bunch of grasshopper definitions.

my godddddd fantastic i am trying to do like this for my thesis i mean a project that aal be parametric:plan patterns…..
my site is so slope and i am not professional but i should do my thesis by this method please help me as much you can please
thanks for your interest. I could help you as much as i can.

This is great…I only happened to stumble by this site today, and there are some very interesting things here. I had a similar topic for my thesis, but used Blender and Python.
I have a question about Grasshopper that you could probably help me with. The input nodes I see on some of your work appear to be generated within Grasshopper (grids and curves). Is there a way to bring in geometries from other software that can act as the “input” nodes?
On another note, I see a great future in these types of software and I am curious how we can take true physical data from sites and structural information of materials to better inform the geometries that are generated within them. It looks like Grasshopper is great for generating ideas, but I think it can be extended (quite easily) to take into account physics and other types of limitations. Again…I know nothing about Grasshopper yet, so forgive me if I am incorrect about this.
Best Regards,
Ben
Ben,
Thank you for your interest in my works. Yes, it is possible to set-up input and output node of grasshopper, but usually with some script and it is limited for now actually. Easily you can use image file in GH, but not directly other types of file; GH is rhino plug-in, so it is basically using rhino geometry, you know. And GH is very flexible parametric design program with less physical constraint. You can develop physical environments in GH, someone is already using in this way. However, in practice, GH is more used as ‘design’ tool. This is good example i developed in practice at Weiss/Manfredi. Everything was developed by using GH before construction.

Thanks.

This definitely makes perfect sense..
This makes great sense to anyone.
