7_2 MINIMAL SURFACE PANELING

February 6, 2011

The Minimal Surface Module can be applied to Paneling of any Rhino Surface with flexible geometry. It is using ‘date tree’ for  ’Shift’  to get a mirror effect and using Minimal Surface module like a X-ref block.  Please see the tutorial link below. (GH version : Build 0.8.0004)

hi! i think your definition is great! i saw people did smth similar with kangaroo… just one question. i tried to use your pdf tutorial to build the thing, but i dont quite get how you plug the CULL things to the POINT? as output for CULL i have a list of 72 defined values each… what am i doing wrong?

Hi, you are right. Each cull has 72 values inside. Just plug them into points in order(see image of definition). The different colors represent different groups(total 6 groups). I am sure it works if you follow the tutorial correctly. good luck!

hi! your definition is truly amazing! One question for the definition. I have tried to follow the tutorial and steps to build the gyroid, it works great in single module ( which is the tutorial7.1), however when i tried to work on group B to F definition, I am not sure if the cull point is mistakenly defined (pretty sure I have followed the steps in tutorial), the surfaces are all broken. is there anything i can to resolve the problem, or may i send u the GH ? Thanks a lot!

    hi hg…

i’m working with michelle right now… and looking into your script as well….
i’m wondering if you are following any maths logic/theory to develop the script?

    hi h.g.

in step 16 and 20 (the shifting list functions)
the input/outputs are curves… but then in step 22-25, the cull pattern functions directly collect data from step 20 to be points, how does it works? or it is from step 19 (which are list of points) instead of 20?

and…. could it be problems when collecting the points to become “point b” of each group? i just finished group a and the results seems weird for me…

    HI H.G.
I’m having a hard time at step 29
I did the definition for the single unit successfully as well as the grid
but putting the two together is very difficult

when i plug the pts (pt1,3,3,1,2,2,4,4) into the points from the unit definition it gives me an error and says that it can’t connect curves to points

    do you have any advice?

    thank you
    J
