7_1 MINIMAL SURFACE MODULE

This is GH construction for one of well-known minimal surfaces. It is using ‘Evaluate Length’ to be flexible for any scale and using ‘Arc’ or ‘Bi-Arc’ to be a module for continuous minimal surface. The Arcs for surface module are defined by 4 points. You can follow the tutorial below. (GH version : Build 0.8.0004)

2_3 TERRAIN SURFACE MAKER

In many times, we need to build terrain surface in architecture. There are other applications or plug-in to build a terrain. But this component could be another option to build a terrain surface pretty quickly by using grasshopper. It’s a simple and easy tip to convert ‘contour’ curves to ‘uv’ curves.

6_2 THREE POINTS TRUSS (OCTET TRUSS)

This is a similar example of space truss using triangles. It is also useful to generate triangle surface panelings on any surfaces.

The logic is the same with 4-Points Truss. But it is a little complicated because it is coming from rectangular grids using ‘mid points’.

6_1 FOUR-POINTS TRUSS

This would be a pretty useful definition for everyone. It generates a space truss for any kinds of Rhino surface. Of course everything is adjustable easily.

I used simple points organization for this definition. This is the basic principle of points organization and connection in grasshopper.

3_3 BEZIER CURVE CONNECTION

This is good example of how to generate geometric patterns on surface. Bezier curves are really useful to create any kinds of continuous patterns (mesh, diagonal, puzzled, zigzag..). I used a simple organization of surface points. It might not be easy to understand points organization. But it is very logical and mathematical process, so I suggest just try..:)

This is a basic principle to extract four different Bezier curves; each one comes from different points group, so you should organize points first.

STUDY : DENSITY GRID

This is an example study project using previous grid components. I used 1 DENSITY COMPONENTS as well as 2 LANDSCAPE COMPONENTS. They are constraint to each other, so the whole system works together. Also the thickness of beam also change following the span of beam.

This is a definition about Points Expansion. It looks like an inflated 3-d geometry, but it’s a just 2d deformed grid. It is created from similar definition with 1.1 Points Concentration.

This is the definition of Points Concentration. Points follow the point attractor. I used a simple math : A sinBx + C (A: amplifier, B: force range, C: maximum move)
